No doubt that Nay Pyi Daw is an incredible stage of our trip: a megalopolis/capital city created from nothing as a display of magnificence that terribly contrasts the rest of the Country. Coming from Bago, we find ourselves thrown in another artificial world, a concrete release and a waste of money that we still cannot explain. Such an urbanised yet empty landscape, fallen into disuse yet so well-finished creates an ominous atmosphere, almost disturbing. Here’s the view from Uppatasanti Pagoda, in the northern part of the city, at the top of a long staircase: the chimes simply highlight this feeling with an always very evanescent limit between mystic and ghostly.
